Jack Tillotson
American men once had their portraits taken together much more frequently then they do now. As significant as this decline in ritual representation of male relationships may be, equally important (or more so) is the recognition that those photographs captured a world of feeling between men that eventually would largely disappear from view. Today Freuds shadow still looms large: In a world in which sexual relationships receive so much attention, we often forget the significance (or even deny the possibility) of intimate association wholly without a sexual componant.
